LBCK, two youngins from Long Beach, are part of a burgeoning scene of young kids from SoCal that are diving head first into classic French filterhouse sounds. Suffice it to say... this is a GREAT development. Between these guys, LA Zebra, and a couple others, the scene looks to have a potentially bright future, IF these guys continue to grow and get better. Basically, take this piece of advice. Don't get sucked into 'the life'. Keep holing up in your bedroom getting better at making these songs. They're very good, but they're not GREAT yet.
Their song 'Start' is our favorite off of their myspace. Its a party starter worthy of the name Start, and includes one of the coolest buildup/drop tricks I've heard in a while. When everyone is doing the same tricks, these guys bust out a slowing down record into silence. Pretty ingenious. Enjoy it.

Try and imagine these two kids, 4am, stuck in a dark basement (in LONG BEACH!), making this song. Smoky air, bass pumping through the room. Its a great site to think of some kids from our home of CA busting out sounds as classic as this.
The track makes me want to get up and dance. Its not the greatest filterhouse track ever, but there's a youthful exuberance that makes it undeniable. I can't wait for the chance to check LBCK out and see what one of their DJ sets sounds like.
Is there a scene of music like this thats actually happening down in LB? Fill me in please.
